Armstrong Multimedia Arts Academy

From e-commerce and digital technology, dancing to directing, performance to production, stage lighting to sound engineering. We are committed to facilitating creativity and world class training in all aspects of the New Media Entertainment industry.

We are the Triple A group of companies, established in 1993 we have quickly become Kent's premier entertainment team. For Managing Director Terry Armstrong it has been a lifelong dream to build a center of excellence in the Southeast of England for talented people. Now with the green light from SEEDA and GOSE, a grant from Business Link Kent and with top international architects Arup Associates preparing a feasibility study report, it is time to turn the dream into reality.

The Proposal
To establish an academy of converging arts. We intend to provide a purpose built, high tech educational environment in the region, to accommodate up to 1,500 full time students per annum, in addition it will facilitate a cross section of people with a wide range of courses, including on-line learning, short term flexible training schemes aimed at re-inserting people into the workplace or top up courses for those already in employment.

Training
We will offer a variety of demanding and challenging courses covering the broad spectrum of Arts and New Media Entertainment. Students will graduate from the Academy secure in the knowledge that they have received the best in practical training backed up by a professionally recognised qualification. However, this is very much a people based industry. In order to work effectively in this environment our creative students need to be nurtured and given the confidence to achieve their full potential; that is why we aim to employ only the very best tutors and lecturers World-Wide.

Facilities
Through commercial partnerships on site facilities will include theatre, dance studios, digital photography and sound recording studios, fully functional digital television and radio recording facilities along with digital editing and animation suites. All of this together with a multi-purpose Arena will ensure that our students have the very best opportunities to practice and perfect their chosen disciplines.

Campus
We propose to create a community environment by providing students with good quality, affordable accommodation together with recreation areas to include a club, restaurant and various sporting activities. Consideration will be given to students with disabilities and special needs.

Grants and Bursaries
By arrangement with on site commercial operator's students will have the opportunity to participate in the production of in-house programming (radio, T.V, film, music etc). A percentage of the profits from the sale of such products will be recycled into a Trust Fund. This will enable us to support on going grants and bursaries to aid talented but financially restricted individuals.

Finance
Initially Venture Capitol and financial partners will form the basis of the funding until such time as student fees and product sales enable the Academy to be self-supporting.

Location
The project has been designed in such a way that it could be located anywhere in the UK or abroad. The Triple A Group is based in the South East of England and propose to establish the first development in their region. The Director of Planning and Development for MBC, Trevor Gasson BA(Hons) MRTPI MIMgt, has confirmed his support in writing for the concept and has agreed to look for a suitable site.

Space

This converging arts concept demands space, lots of it, to carry out the separate and interactive functions that sets the Triple A Group concept apart from the normal run of the mill stage school/college etc. Space is needed to build exterior film and TV sets, i.e. street scenes. Space is needed to build good quality affordable on-campus student accommodation.

Space is needed to build on-site a fully operational digital television studio and radio station to give the students hands on experience in producing actual programmes.

Space is needed to build a multi purpose arena capable of accommodating theatre, concerts, exhibitions, lectures and conferences.

Space is needed to create a cultural hub; restaurants, bars, cinema, studio, theatres and music venues will all be located within the development.

Space is needed to spread out the buildings. A feeling of space is needed by the students allowing freedom of movement around the campus, an opportunity to stretch and grow, to get to know themselves and one another, draw strength from their creative talent, feed their confidence and prepare to excel in their chosen field. Space is needed to concentrate all the facilities required in one location in order to establish a center of excellence.

And finally...
We are determined that the academy of converging arts will become a reality and that the new Millennium should ensure a bright future for talented people by our proposal to facilitate creativity through education and training.
